About Us
Under A-Rest (UAR) is UW-Madison's premier competitive, mixed-voice a cappella group. UAR brings together singers of all backgrounds to arrange, choreograph, and perform across competition stages, community events and beyond, earning recognition throughout the Midwest.
A five-time Semifinalist at the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA), UAR has earned recognition in every major award category: Outstanding Arrangement, Choreography, Soloist, and Vocal Percussion. Most recently, the group took 2nd place at the 2026 ICCA Great Lakes Semifinals and claimed the top spot at the 2026 Acapocalypse competition, continuing a stretch of performances that have quickly set UAR apart in the collegiate a cappella circuit.
Whether performing on stage, at community events, or on their annual winter tour, UAR brings an infectious energy to everything they do. The group covers a diverse repertoire spanning countless genres, giving every audience member something to connect with. That same energy carries off the stage, fostering a community and friendships that last well beyond graduation.
